SCP Foundation Internal Memo
O5 Council Decision
[Redacted]
Date: March 22nd, 2189
From: O5 Command
To: all Foundation personnel
For nearly 300 years, the Foundation has kept humanity safe. It has been our duty to die in the dark, so they may live in the light. This changed a century ago, when the Veil was forcibly lifted, and the non-anomalous population was gradually clued in to the anomalous world. Since then, we have directed our efforts primarily to the containment of dangerous anomalies and research of beneficial ones. Harmless anomalies were released, manageable ones transferred to trusted partners. The Foundation no longer needed to be the sole guardian of humanity, and so we could divert our attention to more complicated matters. This brings us to today. It will not be easy to see your trusted colleagues and superiors vanish from one day to a next. The next few years will certainly be tough. But we are not leaving you defenceless. While preparing for our departure, we have also made many precautions, appointed successors to key roles that will keep the Foundation running, and have been running an extensive disinformation campaign to prevent knowledge of this restructuring to leak outside of the Foundation.
Naturally, you will question why we must leave. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you. And you will only ever know that we succeeded, because consensus reality continues to exist. It is unlikely that anyone will return, as is any further communication after this message.
Sincerely,
The O5 Council
